Something to prepare before you go to Interior Design major

There is not a lot things to prepared before go to Interior Design major, i said it based on my experience in my University in Indonesia.

First, WILLPOWER
you have to have a strong will. study in this major is not as easy as you can imagine. you can't just say, 'this major is so easy, there is no math, physics, biology, accounting, economic. i will just drawing everyday, and it is so so so exciting' NO! this major maybe just drawing everyday, but you will have a lot of deadline for a day and everyday. you will squeeze your brain to make a new idea.
in my 1st semester in collage, maybe 10 of my friends in my batch have gave up from this major. it is not because they CAN'T do this, but it is because they don't have a strong will.

Second, MONEY
this major is not a cheap major, the tuition fee for this major is a little expensive. and for the project that we have to do, it does need money. maybe not expensive, but the project that we will have is a lot enough. then? it will cost so much. but, if you can make the project from the secondhand or anything that is not need to buy, you will reduce your expenses.

Third, IDEA
you need to have a brilliant idea. it is not that hard to have an idea. you can look over your around, that is can be your idea. you just need to stimulate your brain, after that you will have a thousand of idea. and remember 'GENUINE DESIGNER IS A CREATOR, NOT A COPIER'

I think you just need that 3 to prepare : Willpower, Money, and Idea.
You don't need to be a professional drawer before you go to this major, you can learn how to draw. but first, YOU HAVE TO  HAVE A STRONG WILL

why i choose interior design to be my major?

when i was in my junior high school in my 3rd year, my house is getting renovated. But, my parents can not capable to pay the contractor, architect or interior designer to build my house. so? my parents decide to build it by them self, with workman actually.

because of that, my mom usually engage me to visit the building store such as Depo bangunan and mitra10. after that, i always have my dreamy own bedroom in my mind. i imagine how my new house will look.

my will become so big, but back then, my family financial is not that good. so i just keep that dreamy house in my mind. and i think it will be nice if i can be interior designer for real, and i can make that dreamy room by myself.

in my 3rd year of my senior high school, i decide to take interior design to be my major.

my reason is just this simple, to make my dreamy room to be real.
